Your exact age today, or on any date you choose
This calculator turns a date of birth into your exact age in years, months and days, the countdown to your next birthday, the number of days you have been alive, the weekday you were born on and your star sign. You can move the second date to a deadline or any future day to see your age then. Your date of birth stays in your browser.
A closer look
The page counts age the way almost every country does today: you are 0 on the day you are born and gain a year on each birthday, starting on the birthday itself. That sounds obvious, but it is not the only system. South Korea, where this site is made, long counted a newborn as one year old and added a year every 1 January, and it made international age the legal standard only in June 2023. The Korean version of this tool still shows those older counts side by side for Korean paperwork; this page shows international age only.
The arithmetic compares calendar dates rather than dividing by 365, so edge cases come out right. The months-and-days part borrows the length of the previous month when needed, and someone born on 29 February gains a year on 1 March in ordinary years, the most widely used convention. Days alive is the exact number of calendar days between the two dates, leap days included, shown with a rough week count underneath. Star signs use the date ranges common in Western astrology, so a birthday right on a boundary may land one sign away from another chart.
How to use it
- Choose your date of birth with the Year, Month and Day menus, or pick it from the calendar field beside them. The two stay in sync.
- The second date, Age on this date, starts at today. Change it to check a deadline or a future day, and press Today to return.
- Press Calculate age. From then on, any change to either date recalculates instantly.
- Read the results: your age with years, months and days, days until your next birthday with its date and weekday, days alive, the weekday you were born on and your star sign with its date range.

Common snags
Tip If a form asks for your age at your last birthday, that is simply the years figure; the months and days after it show how far you are into the next year.
Age calculator FAQ
How is my age worked out?
You are 0 on the day you are born and gain a year on every birthday — the way age is counted almost everywhere. The moment the reference date reaches your birthday, the figure goes up; the day before your birthday you are still the previous age.
What if I was born on 29 February?
Leap day only exists every four years, so in ordinary years this calculator treats 1 March as the day you gain a year — the most widely used convention. The countdown follows the same rule: it points at 29 February in a leap year and at 1 March otherwise.
Why isn't "days alive" just my age × 365?
Because of leap days. An extra day is added almost every fourth year, so the true total runs several days ahead of the round number. This counter walks the real calendar, so every leap day you have lived through is included.
Can I check my age on some other date?
Yes — that is what the second date is for. Set it to a start date, an exam deadline, a visa cut-off or any future day, and the age, the birthday countdown and the day count are all recalculated for that date.
Is my date of birth sent or stored anywhere?
No. Everything is worked out inside this page, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is kept. You can disconnect from the internet and it will still calculate exactly the same.
