Powerball FAQ
How does Powerball work?
You pick 5 white balls from 1–69 and 1 red Powerball from 1–26. Match all six to win the jackpot, which starts at $20 million and rolls over until someone wins. A standard play costs $2; the Power Play add-on multiplies non-jackpot prizes.
When are Powerball drawings?
Three times a week — Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. Ticket sales cut off shortly before the draw (the exact cutoff varies by state).
What are the odds of winning?
The jackpot odds are 1 in 292,201,338. The overall odds of winning any prize (starting with $4 for the Powerball alone) are about 1 in 24.9. Quick picks and hand-picked numbers have identical odds.
Are random quick picks worse than choosing my own numbers?
No — the drawing is random, so every ticket has the same chance. In fact most Powerball jackpot winners used quick picks, simply because most tickets sold are quick picks. Random numbers also avoid popular patterns (birthdays, 1-2-3-4-5), which slightly reduces the risk of splitting a jackpot.
Does this generator store or send my numbers?
No. Everything runs in your browser with cryptographic randomness, with no server involved. This is an unofficial entertainment tool — to actually play, buy a ticket from an authorized lottery retailer in your state.
